How We Got Started
As a mom of two with a full-time job, I’ve always loved planning parties — I just never seemed to have enough time to actually enjoy doing it.
It wasn’t until after my second child’s first birthday that I finally said it out loud: I love hosting, but I kind of hate hosting.
I love filling our home with people we love, but I could happily live without the cleaning, prepping, and inevitable post-party disaster. I love dreaming up a theme and decorating every little detail — I just wish I had more time to do it.
In fact, as I’m writing this, I’m sitting at my kitchen table underneath streamers, colorful paper chains, and gold stars that are still hanging around weeks after his birthday party.
And somewhere under all those streamers, I had a thought:
Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a place you could rent for a party that actually felt like someone’s home?
Not a cold event space or an empty room you have to transform, but a warm, inviting place where people could settle onto the couch and talk for hours. A place that was beautiful and kid-friendly. A place where you could host a birthday party one weekend and a dinner with all your friends the next.
And then the lightbulb went off.
I could make that.
I could create the place I had been wishing existed.
I could make room for it.
And that’s how The Make Room began.
